In this tale, Dorothy once again returns to the magical world of Oz but get caught up in a fierce storm which led her getting shipwrecked in an unfamiliar land. In it she meets a mechanical wind-up man named Tiktok, a talking chicken, Billina and Ozma the young lady who is also the ruler of Oz.
Ozman states to Dorothy that she is on a noble quest to rescue the royal family of Ev who has been captured by a creature called the Nome King. Soon Dorothy is once again reunited with her friends, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. Once again, they embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the Nome King’s underground kingdom to save the day and find a way to return home.
This free audiobook is narrated by Judy Bieber who perfectly captures the theme of this tale which is far darker than Baum’s previous works but still manages to contain enough fun for kids to enjoy.
