A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: A Song of Ice and Fire Audio Book Summary:
This story is set a century before the events of A Game of Thrones set Westeros into an upheaval. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the first of the planned three prequel stories to the worldwide phenomena hit series. The story is set during the time when the Targaryens were still the most powerful house in all of Westeros and has an iron clad grip on the Iron Throne. Dragons still roam the land and the Targaryens were both feared and respected by all the houses.
The tale will focus on the adventures of Dunk and Egg. Dunk, is a young and brave hedge knight who will soon be known as the legendary knight, Ser Duncan the Tall. With him is his squire known as Egg, who accompanies Dunk throughout his exploits. However, Egg’s true name is actually Aegon Targaryen, the heir to the Iron Throne. The two embark on a journey that will put them through the most difficult of tests. But none would be able to guess the destiny that lays ahead for these two which will help shape the future of Westeros, for better or for worse.
One reason to listen:
This is the first prequel story of A Song of Fire and Ice and will paint a much clearer picture of the historical figures whose names are revered in the world of Westeros.

“If you are fascinated by family intrigues, rebellions and want to learn more about the magical world of the Seven Kingdoms, and be once again absorbed by the bizarre narrative of Martin, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must read for you.” – The Reviewnotes

“It is an in-depth genealogical journey and character study, interwoven in classic Martin style. Other than the illustrations, it is not new, but for those new to this story line and for fans of original artwork related to the overall series, will enjoy A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” – Outwest

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a delightful trio of side-stories for fans of the Song of Ice and Fire series, and a solid introduction to the land of Westeros for newcomers. And of course, it leaves you wanting to hear about more adventures of Dunk and Egg.” – EA Solinas

“The Game of Thrones series is sophisticated, exhilarating, surprising, and thrilling. This volume is… juvenile. Really, as a librarian I would place this book in the “young adult” section.” – R.S. Cobblestone

“This book was in my opinion a bit light. It has nothing of the darkness and depth of character we’re used to from his main work. Although not mere cardboard cutouts, I find the characters a bit thin.” – Eskill Brattli
