American Gods: Tenth Anniversary Edition Audio Book Summary:
This is the 10th anniversary edition of the modern classic, American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. First published in 2001, American Gods quickly rose to become one of the greatest modern works of fiction from one of the greatest and most imaginative minds in literature today. This edition is expanded with and uses Gaiman’s preferred text and is the definitive edition to this fantasy epic.
Shadow is a man who has spent three years behind the cold metal embrace of a prison. He waited for the day when he would finally be reunited with his beloved wife Laura at Eagle Point, Indiana. But life seems to have other plans for Shadow as just a couple of days before he is released he gets news that his wife and best friend were killed in an accident. Now, with no reason to go back, his heavy art makes the arduous journey home where only heartache awaits. However, a chance meeting with a man calling himself Mr. Wednesday who gives him an enticing job seems to be the only way he can push the pain away, and so he accepts.
He is now Mr. Wednesday’s personal errand boy and bodyguard. But it seems that this is no simple task as it takes him through a strange journey filled with even stranger people whose lives seems to be intertwined with Shadow’s.
Along the way, Shadow will learn not nothing is final, even death, and that a storm is coming that will change reality as we know it. Shadow will soon learn that he will be the only thing standing in the middle once the storm arrives, whether he likes to or not.

“Instead of a memorable epic, what I finally discovered in American Gods was a well-written and enjoyable pulp novel that felt much closer to a particularly well done Stephen King story than it did to an important mythological epic.” – Theo Logos

“The premise of American Gods has so much promise. I was anticipating some poignant social commentary on America and our habits of worship. After all, American Gods is a best-selling award-winning novel and I expect great things from Neil Gaiman. But it didn’t happen this.” – Kat Hooper
