Gone To Earth by Mary Webb Audiobook

Gone To Earth by Mary Webbama – A free audiobook

Read by Rachel Lintern

Gone to Earth tells the story of Hazel Woodus who is a recluse and is more connected with her fox cub than with other humans. Hazel is being pursued by two vastly different men, the local Minister and a gentleman farmer. Mary Webb has been often compared to renowned author Thomas Hardy in terms of writing style. Her vivid description of nature and her ideals when it comes to life and love is often touched by tragedy which is what Gone to Earth displays.

Gone to Earth was written in 1917 and is set in the backdrop of the rural Shropshire. This free audiobook is read by the talented Rachel Lintern and is free for download in Librivox. The story is woven perfectly with beauty and loss and is one of Mary Webb’s best works.
