Patient Zero: The Joe Ledger Novels, Book 1 Audio Book Summary:

Baltimore detective Joe Ledger had to kill the same terrorist twice in one week. That is either a testament that something is wrong in the world or his skills are not that good, and Joe Ledger’s skills are that good. His skill in this area of expertise is both a good and bad thing. Good, in terms of him being recruited by the government to lead a secret task force to handle dangers that Homeland Security can’t. Bad, in that his first given mission is to stop a group of terrorist from releasing a dangerous biological weapon that will turn ordinary people into rabid flesh eating psychopaths.

Yes, Joe Ledger just found himself in the middle of a plan to turn the world’s population into zombies on his first day on the job and he has to stop it at all cost.

Jonathan Maberry is the recipient of multiple Bram Stoker awards and this is his first novel/audiobook in a trilogy of thrillers.

This thrilling horror audiobook is filled with nail biting suspense at every turn and will sure to whet the appetite of horror buffs.

Reactions:

“Why not 5 stars? The action got a bit repetitive and ho-hum in parts. I feel like the book could have been condensed by about 50 pages. But definitely read this book! It is pure enjoyment from start to finish.” – Kazza

“If you like explosions, fighting, tough-guy talk and scary, brain-munching zombies, you’ll love this book. I was riveted from page 1, and I raced to get to the last word. The zombies are strong and hungry. The good guys are the best, and the bad guys are the worst. There is nail-biting action at every turn, and a surprising amount of humor thrown in. This is one of the best zombie novels I’ve read in a very long time” – Mellion108

“I’ve started to get used to the way many of the best audiobook performers can switch accents seamlessly, but Porter really amazed me when he nailed the voice for the protagonists’ best friend, who is described in the book as sounding like “a young Raul Julia.” This is an all-around fun listen that will not disappoint anyone looking to be entertained.” – Julie W. “I’m a big fan of zombies and action. The start was good; gun-nut/tactical porn that would make anyone who’s played a Rainbow 6 game excited. As it wore on, however, I liked it less and less. Paper-thin characters that are so extreme I was left shaking my head.” – Daniel Dadmun

“There are things that I really enjoyed about this novel, and things that I didn’t like about it. On the plus side, the concept itself is really neat. The action is really strong. The fight scenes are well constructed. Joe Ledger and some of the side characters on the protagonist side are well-developed. On the negative side, the antagonists in this story were poorly constructed and not credible.” – Carl Alves
