Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind Audio Book Summary:
Let us go back a hundred thousand years into the past and visit Earth as it was then. Would you be surprised to find that there were actually at least six known types of human species roaming the Earth? Would you be interested in knowing why there is only one type today? The remaining specie is of course the Homo sapiens, us. How did our ancestors survive all this time when other human species died out? When and how our forbearers did started building communities, towns, cities and kingdoms? When did Homo sapiens start developing their own laws, create and believe in gods and develop bureaucracy and consumerism?
This audiobook is an interesting and thought provoking study in the history of Homo sapiens which will give us an in depth look at how we started dominating this world and might even give us a glimpse of what the future is in store for us.
One reason to listen:
This is an interesting study in the history of humans. How we survived when other sapiens went extinct, how we could have possibly developed an understanding of creating a society held together by strict laws and where our future could potentially take us.

“I got the audio version from my library and listened twice. Yuval Noah Harari has an incredible depth of knowledge and an unbiased delivery of information, weaving vivid imagery of how we got to where we are, without suggesting that it was meant to be and without bias toward once explanation or another.” – Shellioop

“I’m a fan of every single subject / topic and historical range he covers in this book, I was reading so fast I had to force myself to stop in order to not finish it so quick. Even got the audio book to go along with it! I will get the hardcover to give to friends next.” – Amazon Customer

“I’d like to give this book 3 1/2 stars if I could. It is engaging and easy to read, but somewhat flighty and full of broad statements that make it hard to differentiate facts from the author’s opinion.” – Tom McCauley

“Those who consider themselves religious may take offense at the opinions reached in the book regarding religion. That aside, this was a thought provoking book with perspectives that make it interesting.” – Ellen B
