The story revolves around our two protagonists, Colin Hancock and Maria Sanchez. Colin is trying to make the most out of the second chance he was given. He is now intent on building his life as best he can. He is focused on getting his teaching degree and is trying to leave the tumultuous life that once almost ruined his life. In fact, the last thing he wants is to be dragged into a relationship that would derail his plans. That is until he meets Maria Sanchez who is a lawyer who came from a family of Mexican immigrants during one stormy night. Colin now finds his carefully laid plans for his futures turned over.
Now, Colin and Maria must face the questions they have tried to ignore throughout their lives: what truly makes them happy? But as soon as they seem to find the answer to this million dollar question, their past rears its ugly head and truly pushes the bonds they have formed to the limit. Will they let the demons of the past destroy their lives once again or will their love pull them out of the darkness and bathe them in light once and for all?
