The BFG Audio Book Summary:

In this classic Roald Dahl story, a little girl named Sophie comes face to face with a giant. Unlike the tales that she was told about these colossal beings, this giant did not want to grind her bones to dust or turn her into pie. In facts, the giant that Sophie meets is a rather nice and jubilant giant which she later calls BFG. If it was the Bloodbottlers or any other giants, Sophie would have been turned into mince meat by daybreak.

As Sophie and BFG start to build a bond with each other they hear of a nefarious scheme by the other giants to kidnap children by the dozens. Now, it is up to Sophie to stand tall and find a way to stop these giants and BFG will help her save the day. But will the two be able to stop the other giants in time?

One reason to listen:

This is a great children’s fantasy story that is soon to be adapted to the big screen by none other than another master story teller, Steven Spielberg himself.

Reactions:

“You’d have to be pretty hard of heart not to love its little heroine and the troubles she gets into. A charming treats to be enjoyed for years to come.” – E.R. Bird

“Hi, I’m a ten year old girl who has read the book The Twits, by Roald Dahl. It’s disgusting in a way, exciting, and funny. The BFG was as good as The Twits, but it wasn’t disgusting.” – Jasmine Quiroz

“It’s a real treat for anyone who loves the wry English wit of Dahl and the quirky illustrations of Quentin Blake, a treasure to own and use.” – Gayle Hodur

“I am nine and a half years old. I liked the variety of stories and poems, but I was frustrated at first because I thought I would be reading entire stories. Instead, I found that the Treasury included only chapters of some stories. Short stories, like the Enormous Crocodile, were entirely included.” – A 9 Year Old Reader

“Roald Dahl crossed the line into the utterly unbelievable by making his villains so incredibly bad. It’s preposterous, and funny.” – M. Heiss
