The Bullet Audio Book Summary:
Written by Mary Louise Kelly, The Bullet is a heart pounding thriller about paranoia, lies and deceit and one woman’s conviction in finding the truth, no matter what it maybe.
The story revolves around a successful and intelligent professor of French literature named Caroline Cashion. The beautiful professor is a picture of happiness and contentment until one faithful day when she discovers that she has a bullet lodged at the base of her skull. But how did this happen? She has no recollection of ever being shot, her parents have not told her anything about it as well. Confronting her parents about this shocking revelation, she then discovered that she was adopted when she was 3 years old and that her real parents were murdered. She witnessed it all and was shot as well during the tragic night. The bullet was too dangerous to extract and so the doctors left it nestled inside her skull, surrounded by nerves and blood vessels.
Obsessed to know about her past, she travels back to her hometown and meets a cop who worked on the case decades ago. He lets slip that the bullet inside Caroline was the same bullet that killed her mother as it went through her chest and entered Caroline’s neck. But with Caroline’s hunt for the truth, it seems that another is hunting her. The bullet that is lodged at the base of her skull might have a unique fingerprint that can point out who the killer is. The killer knows that as well and it is up to Caroline to get to the truth before the killer finishes the job he started 30 years ago.
One reason to listen:
The Bullet is thrilling game of cat and mouse that will surely hook suspense and mystery fans. Cassandra Campbell also does a great job of bringing the story, and the protagonist Caroline to life.

“I was blown away by this story and finished this novel in less than two days (including a work day). It’s incredible to think that this is Kelly’s debut; she is an amazing storyteller, and her experience as a notable journalist is certainly evident.” – Running N’ Reading

“I enjoyed how the author treated the theme of the unknown: unknown about others, about your own close family, your own past, and your own personality even. This gave great unusual depth to this thriller.” – WordsandPeace

“This was a decent read. There were some good moments and some twists that I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed the beginning of the book and the build-up but in the last half of the book my interest started to wane a bit and unfortunately I didn’t find it nearly as compelling as I was hoping.” – The Baking Bookworm

“The story is actually engaging. Caroline’s story, while somewhat farfetched, is also interesting to read.” – Susan Drees
