The Green Ember Audio Book Summary:

This children’s tale combines a lighthearted approach with a deep and epic backdrop and plot. The story revolves around two adventurous rabbits named Heather and Picket. The two rabbits live a fairly normal and uneventful life until events propel them into the forefront of a tumultuous journey filled with dangerous individuals and plot to take over and enslave the kingdom.

Heather and Picket must then choose to stand stall or risk being swept away by danger. As the two learn that their fate is intertwined with the kingdom, they must learn to face and overcome each obstacle that comes their way and they can only do that together.

Can Heather and Picket survive or will they fall beneath the weight and gravity of the task that has inadvertently landed on their furry shoulders?

One reason to listen:

This is a great adventure tale that both children and adults can enjoy.

Reactions:

“We gave this to our nine-year-old daughter for Christmas and she polished it off within three days. Throughout her reading of it, she would often exclaim how wonderful it was, and the day she finished it she gave us a rave review as to all of the things that were great about it.” – Lauren Warnemuende

“A great story, written well. It’s full of intrigue, adventure, action, mystery, surprise and struggle, but with a good mixture of humor and playfulness. Written for children but in a way adults will enjoy.” – Ennis P

“The Green Ember is at its core simply a good story. I recommend it as a read-aloud for younger children or a self-serve novel for middle schoolers. The reading level is comparable to the Chronicles of Narnia. My small kids love it. Rabbits with swords! What’s not to love?” – J. Hanks

“I felt the plot dragged for too much of the first book. While I appreciate dialogue in children’s literature, I didn’t appreciate the over use of “she/he said.” I was wanting more variety in introducing and concluding statements made within dialogue.” – Lawrence A.

“The last few chapters had us cheering. The middle of the book, however, was a total sleeper. It was just very drawn out and filled with so much detail that we were just anxiously awaiting for something… anything…. to happen.” – Dekalb Gardener
