The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell Audio Book Summary:

This is a fantastic children’s tale for the modern age. Young Alex and Conner Bailey’s lives are about to change when they discover a pathway into another world filled with creatures and beings that they have only read in books. Chris Colfer mixes the realism of the modern world with the wondrous world of fairy tales that will surely be a hit with young readers of today

The story begins with twins Alex and Conner as they find a special book of stories. However, this is one story book that should not be read lightly. Alex and Conner will discover this fact the hard way as they find themselves transported in a world unlike ours. They find themselves in a foreign land that seems to still be in the medieval era and brimming with unique and strange creatures that they have only read in their children’s books. At first, it appears to be all fun and games but the reality quickly dawns on the twins after close call encounters with wolves, witches and trolls and they soon discover that going back home, unlike getting there, will be much more difficult.

Chris Colfer weaves a story that brings together the best of classic fairy tale elements with the realism of the modern world into a highly exciting and loveable tale of bravery and growing up.

Reactions:

“Actor, Golden Globe winner, 2-time Emmy nominee, one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, singer, screen writer, producer … and now author? All of that at just 22 years old? I understand how some people might be a bit skeptical in regards to Chris Colfer’s actual writing talents, but the truth is – the guy just seems to be a natural-born storyteller, and it doesn’t matter which medium he uses for it.” – Bookworm

“I’m only about 4 chapters in, but already I’m hooked. It reads easily and is enjoyable even for adults (I’m well past my teenage years.) I can’t wait to find out how Alex and Conner fare in The Land of Stories and how they’ll get home. Not to mention, I’m still waiting for the Evil Queen to tell her side of the story.” – Sharon Scott “Lostaholic”

“I love everything about it, the fact that it was written by my favorite. The actor, the story, the characters, I love all of it. If you don’t read this or listen to the audio book, you are missing out on a book as creative as Harry Potter and Twilight. What a treasure. Chris is. His imagination knows no limits.” – Brad Lovett Cohen

“Still, as I said, the story itself isn’t bad. It’s a really good concept. If he tweaks his writing style some, he could have a future in books. Right now it’s just really not refined enough for a higher rating than 3/5.” – Delusional Angel

“Chris is a wonderful storyteller. He spends great attention to detail. There are so many twist and turn and surprises in this story that it’s never boring. The back stories are refreshing and entertaining. I feel for characters I never thought I would give 2 cents about. The emotions are there. I laughed (startling those around me). I cried. I waited with anticipation of what was going to happen next.” – Terra
