What seems to be a perfect apartment for Nate may not be all that it appears. Nate doesn’t have the best living conditions but beggars can’t be choosers. He has no foreseeable plan in his future with a job that makes him miserable and his love life is nonexistent. But not everything is looking bad for Nate. He has found a great apartment downtown where the rent is exceptionally low and the manager is oddly friendly. Everything starts to actually brighten up for Nate that is until he meets his next door neighbor Mandy and finds something quite off within her apartment. Then he discovers the same odd occurrence in the apartment of other owners. Slowly, Nate discovers that not everything is what it seems and dark secrets crawl behind the walls of the building and horrible truths lie right in front of plane sight. Will Nate be able to help his friends escape with their lives or will he too be another foundation to the horrors that are starting to spread all around him?

Reactions:

“The characters were engaging, the story interesting, the source of the mystery was terrific. By the time it had ended I wanted to hear more!” – Magpie

“Found myself enjoying the eccentricities of the gang. Narrators did an excellent job for each voice. Fresh take on a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys caper, searching for answers leading them into an other worldly caper.” – FanB14

“The narrator is the same guy that reads the Joe Ledger series and I really like his voice and characters, he did it again on this book and even added an Indian accent. The “goings on” in the apartments was interesting enough but what happens toward the end of the book was very suspenseful and exciting and that’s all I will say about the content.” – Anthony

“Bottom-line? This was a fun book with a fantastic narrator. Nothing deep really, but it didn’t need to be. It was perfect fantasy/horror genre pulp. The entire thing is destined to be a movie that will inevitably fall far short of the story Clines has written.” – Edward

“This book is fiction, sci-fi slightly… fantasy… barely. I would have some mature high school students read/listen to this book due to its easy going pace and somewhat interesting story-line. This book is NOT for epic fantasy fans or even hard core sci-fi fans.” – Jason

“In my opinion, this belongs in the young adult category. Some hand holding, kissing, reference to spending the night together, but nothing graphic.” – Adrienne
