A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR’S COURT by MARK TWAIN – A free audiobook
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is a comedy written by the great Mark Twain. It takes a satirical look at what could possibly happen when a 19th century resident of Connecticut is thrust in medieval 6th century England.
It follows Hank Morgan as he finds himself thrust into the world of King Arthur. Hank Morgan then took it upon him to share his knowledge of the modern era to “help” the people and improve their lives, as he so believed. However, Morgan’s understanding of medieval era has been romanticized and his understanding of what these people need may not actually result for a better world for them.
Mark Twain used this novel in order to criticize the warped form of democracy that he saw was being used. Indeed this is a hilarious story that at the center has an important message to tell as it shows what is wrong if a society is led by the wrong people.
