A GOLD HUNTER’S EXPERIENCE by CHALKLEY J. HAMBLETON – A free audiobook
Chalkley J.Hableton chronicles his experience as a gold miner during the gold rush of 1860’s. During this era, the economy was at its lowest and money was difficult to come by more so are the jobs and business opportunities. Like many people during this time, Hableton was at his lowest and in a desperate move tried his hands on gold mining. Gold mining was at its peak during this time as the promise of riches was far too great to be ignored, especially by people who have almost lost everything. Chalkley J. Hambleton then travels to Pike’s Peak with 4 other men and with tons of mining equipment to take a stab at changing their fate.
A Gold Hunter’s Experience details Hambleton’s adventures through the epic gold rush. He recounts his journey meeting Indians, a huge herd of buffalos and a group of disappointed miners going back home. This became a foreshadowing as Hambleton went home empty handed afterhaving his dreamed crushed. Years later, he became a well-known lawyer in Chicago and a prominent member of the Chicago Board of Education (CBE). During this time of prosperity he wrote his experiences in a journal for his family and publishing it in 1989. His wry humor proves to be his strength as it is the only thing that keeps him moving onwards in an endeavor that may not have been successful financially but left him wiser. A Gold Hunter’s Experience is an uplifting memoir that teaches us if life gives you lemon, make some lemonade.
