A LADY’S LIFE IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS by ISABELLA L. BIRD – A free audiobook

Narrated by: Laura Caldwell

A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountain is a fascinating journal written by Isabella Bird during her time in the Rocky Mountains. Isabella L. Bird had a difficult childhood due to her illness which made her take up travelling in order to help alleviate her pains. This audiobook is a compilation of her letters as she travelled around the country to her sister, Henrietta. The absolute positivity of her letters paint a beautiful world filled with breathtaking landscapes, interesting and kindhearted people and the life a mountain man she met during her travels named Jim Nugent. Jim Nugent was a brusque man but always a fine gentleman to Isabella Bird as she has written about their friendship. Throughout her travels she was given the opportunity and distinction to be the first woman to ever become the member of the Royal Geographic Society in the year of 1982.

A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountain is a beautiful journal of a young woman who is passionate about travelling and seeing what the world has to offer. Her illness did not become a deterrent but instead became the fuel that drove her to an amazing journey filled with happiness and wonder that she will treasure for the rest of her life. Laura Caldwell brings the story of Isabella Bird to life with her voice that she is able to fill with a positive outlook and energy of which Ms. Bird clearly has lots.
