A NARRATIVE OF A REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER: SOME OF THE ADVENTURES, DANGERS, AND SUFFERINGS OF JOSEPH PLUMB MARTIN by JOSEPH PLUMB MARTIN – A free audiobook

Narrated by Barry Eads

War is a horrible and tragic event will affect everyone caught within its maelstrom. This audiobook details the experience of Joseph Plumb Martin during his time in Continental Army fighting in the Revolutionary War. Martin spent eight years fighting this war and it took its toll on him. He tells his experiences in the war where he felt the sting of the bitter cold, the debilitating hunger, the tiring marches, the dread of war and the pain of losing close friends. However, not all of Martin’s experiences were as harsh as the war he fought in. He also tells of the times when he bonded with his brethrens doing some hunting, fishing and other relaxing activities. He also recalls a time that he met a rather “saucy miss” as he calls her.

This audiobook is an eye opening account into the life and times of his era and a firsthand account of not only the horrors of war but also the strong friendships that can form in the grime of the battlefield. Joseph Plumb Martin shows how war can change a man, for those who do not have a strong will it can utterly destroy them. Martin survives his ordeal and in turn it transformed him into a stronger individual. His stories can both terrify and inspire listeners but it is also a great personal account into the harsh reality of life and learning to adapt whatever hand life gives you.
