Dandelion Cottage by Carroll Watson Rankin – A free audiobook

Narrated by Betsie Bush

Dandelion Cottage is probably the best known work by Carrol Watson Rankin which was published in 1904. Written for the enjoyment of her children, Rankin then went on to release it as a novel and has been relegated as a regional classic. This free audiobook of the Midwestern classic tale is now available for download via Librivox and is read by the always talented Betsie Bush.

Dandelion Cottage centers on the story of four young girls who were allowed to use a decrepit cottage house owned by the wealthy Mr. Black in return for the girls picking dandelions. Their bonds as friends and their bravery and will in the face of adversity transformed this tale into a beloved classic. Interesting fact is that Mr. Black is based on Marquette businessman and philanthropist, Peter White and that the actual Dandelion Cottage is a real place that can be found on 440 East Arch which is now privately owned.
