Dark Hallow is a murder mystery free audiobook written by Anna Katharine Green. The story takes place in the small rural town of Shelby wherein a heinous crime has just transpired and shocked the once peaceful community and plunged the town into darkness. A man was found brutally beaten to death, soon a local inn-keeper was taken into custody, tried and executed for the crime, but something felt amiss.

As the town struggled to return to normalcy and put this tragedy behind them a woman wearing purple comes into town and walks straight up to the Ostrander household, the home of the judge who passed the sentence to execute the inn-keeper. This woman turns out to be Deborah, the wife of the executed man, who she believes to be innocent of the crime he was punished for. But the judge will not have any of it and stands by his decision. This leaves Deborah with no choice but to investigate the murder herself. Posing as a maid, she starts to uncover bits and pieces of clues that will point her to what happened during that faithful day and discover the identity of the killer. But as she delves deeper into the dark past she is also heading directly towards danger.
