Reactions:

“With his ability to build a strong story, his intelligent and clever word play that cheeky sense of humor, and the most remarkable and endearing cast of characters; Johnson remains one of my favorite writers. Yep, this book is highly, highly, highly, highly, recommended.” – Queen Katie Mae

“This is still one of the better books in this genre of western(ish) writing. Longmire is still the gruff hero that we all enjoy, tightly plotted book, great character development and a very satisfying ending.” – Tom4416

“I’m giving this book a five star rating for two reasons. First, the rating is more for the overall literary world that Craig Johnson has created than for this or any particular book. Second, because the books in this series are for the most part linked with the previous ones. So the books have a little different feel than most series.” – Robert Moore

“Imaginative is the best descriptive term I can offer for this novel. In the interests of full disclosure, I am a fan of the Longmire TV series though as a former LAPD officer and Viet Nam combat veteran, I get annoyed at his tactical carelessness. That being said, this is the first novel by Johnson that I have read. It certainly is not literature despite its Latin quotes, but it is fast, easy, light and fun reading.” – Stormrider

“I thought this installment was too short, and clearly a set-up for the next novel. I really like Longmire (both written and TV) and think Craig Johnson has a great wit. This book was just not up to his usual standards, though.” – Marla B.
