Ghost Story: A Novel of the Dresden Files Audio Book Summary:

Harry Dresden is well versed in the spirit world but never did he think that he will join that world so soon. During a case Dresden is shot by a mysterious figure that left him to die, and die he did. As he breathes his last breath he hopes to finally go to that better place where he could finally found peace. But to his dismay, even in death Dresden seems to not get a break.

Now trapped in limbo, Harry Dresden must find out who his killer is and time is quickly running out as discovers that his friends are also in grave danger. He can only move on once he finds his killer and saves his friends, but that is a lot easier said than done especially now that he has lost access to his powers. To make matters worse there are malevolent creatures roaming the city of Chicago that are controlled by a shadowy puppeteer that has a score to settle with the late Harry Dresden.

It is time for Harry Dresden’s biggest challenge yet and he must do it without his powers that pulled him out of the fire numerous times or risk an eternity as a lost soul.

Reactions:

“If you have never read any Dresden Files novels, go start at the beginning, and when you get to this one stay away from the audiobook version unless it is the one with James Marsters performing.” – Larissa Miller-Lerch

“I have actually listened to the audiobooks of the whole Dresden series so far and have loved them. I was not disappointed. This was not my favorite Dresden book, but it is still excellent” – RSS

“The end of the book seemed a bit rushed which is why I didn’t give this the full 5 stars I would have. Overall, still an excellent read that you have trouble putting down.” – Deanna D. Renira

“This is really only two stars in comparison to the other books in the series; if I read or listened to it independently, it would probably rate a little higher. I did enjoy it, I guess, but it was also a bit of a struggle to get through. Part of the reason was because the ending of this book, for me, was never in doubt. It was just a matter of how it was going to get us there” – B. Nommensen

“Most fans of the series will likely agree that this novel cements Harry Dresden’s status as one of the most, if not the most, entertaining characters in fantasy and science fiction toady. I can’t think of any other character in the genre that brings his mix of unique abilities, hard-boiled realism and humor.” – Tiger CK
