Description
Journey to the Interior of the Earth of Journey to the Center of the Earth as it is more widely known is probably Jules Verne’s crowning achievement in the area of science fiction genre. It was first published in 1864 and was only translated to English half a decade later in 1871.
Sure, almost everything in the book that details what the center of the Earth is like has been dis-proven scientifically it still manages to be one of the most fantastic science fiction story ever told. The novel follows the adventures of protagonist Doctor Otto Lidenbrock, his nephew Axel and their guide Hans as they dive into a volcanic tube in Iceland which they believe runs through the center of the Earth. Reading it today it is easy to point the inaccuracies of the novel but try forgetting the facts for a moment and just enjoy the ride, you will not be disappointed.
