Narrated by Mil Nicholson

Little Dorrit is one of the most well-known works of Charles Dickens that he wrote during the twilight of his career. This is a collection of three novels that were published from 1855 to 1857. The story of Little Dorrit is based upon Charles Dickens’ personal experiences as a child when his father was sent to Marshalsea Prison due to unpaid debts which made a huge impact on the young Charles as he was growing up. Little Dorrit is a tale based on life within the prison and is a critique on society as well.

The first book starts off in France, within the Marseiiles Prison where two prisoners named Rigaud and Calvetto are sharing a cell. After a brief introduction to the two characters we are quickly taken to the Marshalsea Prison where we meet Mr. Dorrit on the day when his child is born. A child named Amy, the only infant born within the prison. Growing up, Amy is better known inside as Little Dorrit, and she grew up as a good natured and kind hearted girl. During Amy’s life in the prison, the other inmates have grown to love and respect the child as well as her father who became known as the “Father of the Marshalsea”.

Soon the father and daughter will cross paths with Arthur Clennam who believes that Mr. Dorrit is wrongly imprisoned and starts investigating his case in order to help free Mr.Dorrit as well as Amy.
