Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Audio Book Summary:

After a tragic accident leaves young Jacob all alone in the world with no one left to turn to, the 16 year old boy discovers a mysterious place that could offer him the purpose in life he searches for. Traveling to a secluded island somewhere of the coast of Wales, Jacob discovers a derelict orphanage owned by a woman known as Miss Peregrine. This orphanage had a dubious reputation of being the place where children who are peculiar, maybe even dangerous, are sent off to in order to protect the rest of us.

As Jacob explores the seemingly abandoned halls and rooms of this manor, he learns more about the residents of this orphanage and discovers that it may not actually be as abandoned as he thought it was. The residents of this enormous orphanage within this small island may still be alive.

This audiobook combines suspense, mystery and fantasy into one peculiar tale about a set of individuals who have been rejected by the world for who they are and Jacob’s journey in acceptance, finding a new family and fighting to protect this family of individuals who, like him, have no place else to go.

One reason to listen:

This audiobook is great mystery thriller for younger audiences and is about to be released on the big screen directed by Tim Burton himself.

“I wasn’t too sure when I started listening to this book via borrowed audiobook from the library. But the reader was great and had a variety of voices for the characters.” – Gatosqueak

“Jesse Bernstein’s narration is perfect for the first part of the book, when it’s mostly just the voice and thoughts of a sullen and snarky boy in his teens. He’s got that voice down.” – Mary Lavers

“If you like, mystery, paranormal, historical, contemporary, a bit of fantasy then there is something in this book for you. I really only had one problem with this book is another dastardly cliffhanger!” – Rebecca Vehrenkamp

“While the reader is a talented vocalist, his accents for the characters are distracting and downright cheesy. It takes away from the quality of the book, and gives the characters an irritating persona.” – Addison
