Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket by Edgar Allan Poe – A free audiobook

Narrated by Full Cast

The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym is a classic of the adventure/horror genre that is written by one of the best in this field, Edgar Allan Poe. Its full title is The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket and was published in 1838.

The story revolves around the titular Arthur Gordon Pym as we follow on his adventures when stows away inside a whaling ship called the Grampus. Several events will befall this ill fated travel as Pym will be shipwrecked, come under mutiny and witness to acts of cannibalism.

What separates this tale from other lost at sea adventure tales is that the longer the story goes, the deeper into the macabre it goes to. After several chapters the story will delve into religious iconography and even the Hollow Earth theory that was popular back in the day.

Edgar Allan Poe created what the precursor to classic tales of the supernatural is mixed with science that authors like HP Lovecraft expanded upon. The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym is a true classic for genre fans and is now available for free in audiobook form read by a talented full cast.
