“I will say I almost cancelled my preordered. Yeah, I know. I wasn’t sure I’d like the Choose Your Own Adventure style (which I did like as a kid). The book is written in second person. I once tried to make it through Andrea Bocelli’s autobiography written in third person and just couldn’t deal. But here, second person works! Neils’ humor shines in this format, and I don’t think it could have been written any other way. Also, when you read a book, you want to read it straight through, as an adult anyway, I don’t want to flip 40 pages forward, 10 pages back, etc.. My time is limited, kids screaming, dinner to make, it’s a miracle I get to read at all. But you find yourself reading the “what if” scenarios anyway, because they’re funny and they could have happened, they might have actually happened to someone, and then… there would have never been a Neil in the world to entertain us.
