Queen Lucia by Edward Frederic Benson – A free audiobook
Narrated by Martin Clifton
Queen Lucia is 1 of the 105 books the Edward Frederick Benson wrote throughout his career. Queen Lucia was published in 1920 and was the first of a series of 6 that recounts the tale of Mapp and Lucia. Queen Lucia tells the story of Emmeline Lucas and is a comedy of sorts that focus around the provincial village of Riseholme where Queen Lucia leads the social and artistic concerns of its naive residents.
Her aide-de-camp with “ruling” over the small town is Georgie Pillson and her bitter rival to the so-called crown is Daisy Quantock. Events will unfold within the town that could possibly threaten Queen Lucia’s rule and she must connive and manipulate her way to victory, something that she has a lot of experience in.
This hilarious satire on social entitlement is now free for download via Librivox and is narrated by Martin Clifton.
