Red Rising Audio Book Summary:

In the distant future, humanity has moved on to the planet Mars. However, people have been once again divided by caste in a color coded future. Darrow is a Red, the lowest caste in society. The Reds toil away underground working to make the surface habitable for everyone. Darrow and his fellow Reds believed this and gave their lives to achieving that dream.

Unfortunately, Darrow discovers that they have been lied upon. In fact, the surface of Mars has been habitable for generations and is now filled with cities and life. This was just another form of control by the higher caste to have them in check without rocking the boat. Darrow discovers that the Reds were only seen as slaves and that is their destiny, unless he changes that.

A revolution is brewing underneath the surface of Mars. The Red caste and the Gold caste are about to reach a breaking point Darrow will do everything in his power to achieve his new found goal: revenge.

Reactions:

“This is, without a doubt, the best book I’ve read. This author is amazing. It’s well written, it’s gripping, exciting, unpredictable… This is the type of book I’ve been waiting for. I’m a huge Hunger Games and Divergent fan, and this is better than both of them. I simply cannot wait for the 2nd book to come out!” – Lauren

“I really loved the internal journey Darrow goes through and the political and societal world Pierce Brown created. I can’t wait to get to the next one and the third. I both read the book via Kindle and listened to the Audible version and enjoyed both experiences. The audible version also comes with a recorded version of the forbidden song at the end and is also sung during the story by the narrator, and everyone for some reason has Irish and English accents. It’s fantastic.” – Annie

“The action and violence in the novel is great. Pierce has a wonderful way of describing the events as they take place and kept me turning the pages (or in my case, listening to the narrator). One of the great things about the book is the ancient Roman influence that Pierce Brown builds his world around.” – Shwareal

“Well written. Like others said, sort of a cross between Ender’s Game and Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones…), but not quite do detailed. Also read the second book, Golden Son. It is even better. Looking forward to the third book which, unlike the next Song of Ice and Fire book, will be out April, 2016. I combined Kindle and Audible versions. Great reader.” – Louis B. Shamel
