The Breaking Point is a novel written by Mary Roberts Rinehear. The story is one of the first works of fiction to dabble in the psychological thriller genre. The story revolves around a young doctor named Dick Livingstone who is on his way to marrying the beautiful Elizabeth Wheeler. However, Livingstone has a mysterious past that he himself does not know about and he feels that he must first discover this before he is to marry the woman of his dreams.

Livinstone is suffering from repressed memory which he believes is the reason why he can’t remember a decade of his life. He vows to uncover what happened during this 10 years but maybe there is a reason for him not remembering the past. Is it worth risking his future to learn more about his past that he himself tried to and successfully forget?
