Edgar Rice Burroughs is mostly well known for his fantasy works such as Tarzan, but he also wrote stories set in the real world that tackled human drama. One of these stories is the short novel The Efficiency Expert that is now available in free audiobook form.

The story centers on Jimmy Torrance, Jr. who is currently at a stagnant point of his life, facing unemployment problems even though he had a bright athletic college career. Even with some underhanded help from his friends in the illegal underworld business, he simply could not hold on to a job long enough. He even gets assistance from a young wealthy woman who he soon falls in love with. The Efficiency Expert is a story that takes a closer look at the reality of life and the fact that sometime, even if you have every possible card on the table that is not a guarantee to success.
