A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a wacky science fiction adventure story that centers on Arthur Dent. It appears that Earth is in the way of planned hyperspace drive galactic freeway and is primed for demolition any moment. Just seconds before the planet gets blown to smithereens, Arthur Dent gets transported to outer space by his close friend Ford Prefect. Ford is in fact a researcher and writer of one of the galaxy’s most popular survival guide and is actually an alien from another planet.
The pair goes on a hilarious adventure that spans the galaxies and along with Zaphod Bebblebrox, the dim-witted, two headed, three armed President of the Galaxy; Trillian or Tricia McMillan, a woman who Arthur tried to pick up in a party; Marvin, a smart but paranoid and chronically depressed robot; and Veet Voojagig, a graduate student who is in search of all his ballpoint pens. Well, its 42 but we need something a little better than a number.

Reactions:
“This audiobook made my 3 hour daily commute less unpleasant. Now if I can find the rest of the series. You probably know the story already. It is filled with nonsense, satire, and very cleaver, if not realistic sci-fi concepts. The excerpts into the fictional guide for which the series is named are enjoyable. Many classic lines. The updated entry for Earth changed from “Harmless” to “Mostly harmless.” So enjoy the listen. So long, and thanks for all the fish.” – K.A. Larson

“Stephen Fry is wonderful and did an awesome job of narrating this version of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I would give this audio book 4 star for his narration alone. I think Stephen Fry could read the telephone directory and I’d love it.” – Lunarchi
