The Rosie Project Audio Book Summary:

The Rosie Project is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Don Tillman. Don Tillman, for the lack of better world, is an idiot when it comes to matters of the heart. He maybe a professor of genetics and is one of the brighter minds of his time but when it comes to dating women, he is as oblivious as a newborn. He is inept in socializing with people and he knows that, so when a colleague suggests that he will make a wonderful husband he reacts in shock. Mulling around for a while with this strange realization he lands on the old adage that there is someone for everyone and so he jumpstarts the Wife Project. Using logic and facts, Don Tillman goes forth to find the perfect woman for him.

However, once his path crosses with a woman named Rosie Jarman everything seems to get flipped on its head. Rosie is charming, spontaneous and witty young woman who is looking for her biological father. This leads her to the doorstep of Don Tillman who she believes will be able to help her. This unexpected visitor pushes the Wife Project behind and replaces it with the Father Project. Now, logical and scientific minded Don Tillman must contend with the spontaneous Rosie and discover that love is not something simple that can be figured out with equations.

One reason to listen:

This is a romantic novel that shows, in a hilarious and heartwarming way, that opposites do attract when it comes to love.

Reactions:

“Simsion has created a very funny novel which also has the reader thinking about emotion and logic, love and friendship, conventionality and non-conformists, and what it takes to modify one’s behavior. This is a fast-paced love story with an interesting twist.” – Cloggie Downunder

“The Rosie Project is a situation comedy type book. It is hard to categorise what genre it is, definitely isn’t a romance novel, or chick lit. You could call it a mystery as Don has to work out who Rosie’s father is. I guess similar authors would be Mike Gayle, Jonathan Tropper, John O’Farrell, but really The Rosie Project is pretty unique, there’s not much point trying to categorize it.” – James N. Simpson

“Intelligent, witty, warm writing. I cannot stop raving about this novel. The problem now, is how long will I have to wait for another Graeme Simsion book? Encore!” – Miss Heliotrope

“Quirky, funny, and a nice love story. Just my thing. The writing was good, although being so cinematic it did take me out of the story a few times, as I’d have the thought that he wrote it to be a movie. And of course, he did. But, it’ll be a good movie.” – Somebody U.U. Stuno

“This is a very quick read, the writing is accessible and the characters are carefully created, at times the story did veer towards the ridiculous, but the saving grace for me was the underlying emotions felt by Don.” – Lincs Reader
