Narrated by Karen Savage
The Secret Garden was originally a series that was published during the 1910 and was republished again as a whole on 1911. This was one of the most popular children’s stories of the time and still holds up even to this day. The serial was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett and is considered a classic in children’s literature and has been adapted into various stage plays and films throughout the years.
This free audiobook edition of The Secret Garden is narrated by the talented Karen Savage. It tells the story of Mary Lennox, a troubled young girl with a lonely upbringing due to her wealthy snobbish parents’ unloving and cold relationship with her. Born in India, she lived with her British parents but was raised by the servants of their household instead. She grew up not feeling the warmth of a parent’s touch and care which caused her to become selfish and cruel herself. However, a cholera outbreak in their area affected all but Mary and as the residents of their manor die off one by one, Mary’s parents included, it was Mary Lennox in all her lonesome that was the sole survivor.
She was then taken and by an English clergyman and his family but was later sent to Yorkshire, England where he meets his uncle Archibald Craven for the first time. There, Mary will live with an uncle she didn’t even know existed until recently in an isolated mansion that seems to be more than it initially appears to be.
