Reactions:

“William J. Mann writes a detailed investigation concerning all who were near or implicated in the murder of William Desmond Taylor president of the Motion Picture Directors Association. One good point in his favor is that he does not make up dialogue. He uses reports of what was actually said.” – Wogan

“The author William Mann is an excellent writer and researcher. I can personally attest to this because I’ve read his other books and that’s precisely why I grabbed Tinseltown up when offered by Vine. He is a chronicler of the film industry and popular film personalities, his books are always interesting as well as informative.” – G.I. Gurdjieff

“Tinseltown is exhaustively researched. It is the intertwining story of three Hollywood starlets, a crazy stage door Mom, Mr. Taylor, a group of powerful Hollywood executives, and a group of bunko extortion artists.” – Robert P. Gelms

“If you’re interested in early Hollywood you will enjoy this book. I have read other books about this subject which draw different conclusions. This one seems the most plausible. However, it does get bogged down a bit with minute details about some of the characters, which slows down the narrative. It is recommended for Hollywood history buffs, others not so much.” – Michael Anderson
