The story centers on the titular character, Katy Carr, as well as her family. The story is set in 1860’s America, Katy is a tomboy of sorts, and she’s tall and scrappy and always getting into all sorts of scrapes. However, she always wanted to be seen as a lady by her peers.

Unfortunately, an accident left Katy with a disability that tested her mettle to its absolute limits.
