Opal Fire: A Stacy Justice Mystery, Book 1 Audio Book Summary:

Stacy Justice is your ordinary girl living in a sleepy small town. She loves her job as the town’s resident reporter and she has a cute cop boyfriend and her fateful Great Dane to keep her company. But Stacy is more unique than she lets on to be. In fact, Stacy is part of a long lineage of powerful witches. This is a family secret that she rather stays a secret as she has no patience to learn all the incantations that her grandmother has been trying to teach her. Simply put, Stacy is perfectly content with her life to have magic complicate things.

However, one incident will push Stacy towards her destiny. When someone burned the Cinnamon Bar, a place Stacy and her cousin owns, she almost found herself burned under the rubble. After investigating the incident, Stacy discovers that this was no accident and that someone wants her dead. If she wishes to get to the bottom of this case she must not only use her wits but also her magic.

It is time to embrace the long standing family tradition and it seems Stacy has a long way to go to be considered an adept spell caster and time is running out fast.

One reason to listen:

This is a fun little audiobook that is geared towards teenage girls with its likeable and strong willed female lead. This is an entertaining mystery audiobook with a dash of magic to spice things up.

Reactions:

“I connected with the characters and felt emotionally invested in the outcome; Loved the ending – one mystery was solved, but in a surprising twist, another was revealed. Glad I took a chance on this book, it was a highly enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!” – Stacy L. Daniels

“A truly enjoyable read requires several ingredients: an intriguing protagonist, interesting, well-rounded supporting characters, a brisk pace, a hint or more of danger, a slew of story questions, and a satisfying end in which the bad dude gets his just reward.” – EJ Knapp

“Stacy is somewhat reminiscent of Sookie Stackhouse and Lily Bard in the regards she a unique but strong female character. If you like the Charlaine Harris “cozies” then you should like this book.” – The Legend of Megadon “Megan”

“This book was an entertaining read but i wouldn’t buy it. Stacy was truly “sassy” but sass gets old after a while. The whole book is mainly her constant internal and external smart ass dialog. I laughed a lot but it doesn’t make for a good story. All the conversation in the book consisted of one line sarcasm and insults thrown back and forth between the characters and left little of the story told.” – VN Jones

“It has good character development but is rather uneven. It also uses some strong languages. It kept me guessing until the very end. Celtic touches were introduced in a non-pushy way.” – BB
